A pair of defensive backs have entered the portal today, and Miami could play a part in both of their recruitments.
The first name to enter the portal today was Tennessee DB Jakobe Thomas, a 6’2, 202-pound safety.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Thomas will visit only Miami and Florida State within the week.
Thomas spent his last season at Tennessee after two years at Middle Tennessee State and the Vols were desperate to keep him. He’s totaled up 130 tackles and four interceptions across his three years at the collegiate level.
Houston DB Keionte Scott has also entered the portal. Scott was originally coached by now-Miami DB coach Zac Etheridge at Auburn before transferring to Houston during the winter portal.
He made 23 starts for the Tigers racking up 115 tackles, six tackles for loss and a punt return touchdown. Scott has not announced where he will be visiting, but Miami is a team to keep your eye on due to his connections with Etheridge.
With entries into the spring transfer portal now fully closed as the 48-hour rule has passed, teams are focusing in and getting their targets. The pair now joins Houston transfer A.J. Haulcy as possible targets for the 'Canes as things begin to settle down in the portal.
