Miami's Run Game Punishes Gators' Defense

The Hurricanes leaned on their ground game, and it paid off in a big way. From the first snap, Miami’s running backs set the tone, breaking tackles and wearing down the Florida defense.

Behind a strong offensive line, the Hurricanes ripped off chunk runs and controlled the clock. Every carry seemed to move the chains, leaving the Gators scrambling to slow them down. Even though the Hurricanes' passing game was just very quiet yesterday.

Mark Fletcher carried the ball 24 times for 116 yards and powered in for a touchdown, setting the tone from the opening drive. Backup running back Marty Brown added to the damage with 18 carries for 80 yards and two scores.

By the second half, Florida’s defense looked worn out and out of answers as Miami kept pounding the ball and chewing up the clock. The Hurricanes finished with 184 rushing yards on 46 attempts, while holding the Gators to barely 80 rushing yards and only 61 passing yards.

Florida couldn’t stay on the field, going a brutal 0-for-13 on third downs, which gave Miami even more chances to grind the game away. The numbers told the story. Miami’s relentless run game set the pace and never let the Gators catch their breath.

how does the 184 yard gained compared with what the gaytors defense has allowed this year and last?

This is a great screenshot on the TD run of Sapp getting his *** blown back off the line of scrimmage on his ***

Wish I could see the All22 to see who is responsible for moving him off the LOS. Looks like #87 helped
