The Miami Hurricanes basketball program, along with coach Jai Lucas and his staff, has extended an offer to five-star center Obinna Ekezie Jr.

Miami was among several schools that offered him this past weekend, joining teams such as BYU, Cincinnati, and Virginia. The 7-foot, 220-pound center also holds offers from Kentucky, Alabama, Houston, Maryland, Kansas, UCLA, USC, Texas A&M, and many more.

If you recognize that name, it’s because Ekezie's father played for the University of Maryland from 1995 to 1999 and was selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the second round of the 1999 NBA Draft.

Obinna is another recruit from Prolific Prep, which is relocating to Fort Lauderdale, making Miami a very convenient option for him as he will play his junior season there.

He is currently rated as the No. 1 center and the No. 3 overall prospect in the country, according to 247Sports.

Obinna Ekezie Jr. averaged 6.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game while playing with the Team Lillard program on the Adidas 3SSB 16u Circuit. He also averaged 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games at the Chipotle Nationals while playing for Prolific Prep.
