After an 11–2 start in nonconference play under first-year head coach Jai Lucas, Miami is starting to show up on the national radar.

ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi released his latest update, and the Hurricanes made a significant jump. After previously being listed among the “First Four Out,” Miami is now projected safely in the field as a No. 10 seed.

Both of Miami’s losses have come against Quad 1 opponents (Florida, BYU), which has helped their résumé early on. While it’s still very early in the season, Lunardi currently projects the Hurricanes to face No. 7 seed Utah State in the opening round, with a potential second-round matchup against No. 2 Gonzaga or New Mexico State.

Conference play is right around the corner, and Miami has positioned itself well heading into ACC action. The Hurricanes return to the court on December 30th when they host Pittsburgh to open league play.
