The Miami Hurricanes coaching staff is pursuing another European player, having reached out to 6-foot-6 wing Dame Sarr from Italy.
Miami is one of several schools, including Illinois, Kentucky, Oregon, BYU, USC, and SMU, that have reached out to Sarr. For a time, Illinois was considered the frontrunner, however, as teams like the Hurricanes and several other Power Five programs got involved in his recruitment, it’s a open race.
Sarr has been a player for FC Barcelona. During the last season, the 6-foot-6 athlete recorded an average of 5.8 points with a shooting percentage of 52.1%, hitting 42.9% from three-point range on 1.8 attempts per game, and grabbed 1.7 rebounds in about 12.8 minutes per game over 12 matches in the Liga ACB.
Sarr is a solid defender with excellent court awareness, and he’s among the quickest players on the floor. His impressive 7-foot wingspan also gives him an advantage.
In the latest Nike Hoops Summit where Sarr participated, he scored 17 points on 5/9 shooting, he grabbed four rebounds in 25 minutes of play.
