On the first week of fall camp: it's been good, competing, just running around. I just feel like I'm getting better competing against guys every day.
On Armondo Blount and Marquise Lightfoot: They can become whatever they want to become. They're elite players right now, and they can obviously keep getting better. Armondo is a big dude, violent and physical. Marquise is fast, electric, he's violent as well. So just being able to play with those guys just raised my competition up and made me get better every day.
On the attention he’s getting from Jason Taylor: Our room alone, I think it's like six, five guys, so it's not that big of a room. So I think everybody is able to get attention with him. And his room is always open, so I just, he's always there.
On going against Samson Okunlola: I enjoy playing against Samson. You can tell he's a high IQ player. Before we get set, you can tell that he's always thinking that he's gonna play me. And then we come back in the locker room, we sit down, talk, me, Ryan, McCoy, the O-line coach, he was giving me tips yesterday. I feel like everybody on the team is useful, whether it be special teams coach, water boy, everybody's just here.
On what he would tell his freshman self: Mistakes are normal. These coaches, their job are to make it hard for you, make you think you're doing bad, but you just gotta believe in yourself, know that you got here for a reason, just keep believing in yourself.
On what he wants to improve on: Be violent at the point of attack, two to one, keep my outside hand free, just be a dog in the trench, clear. Calais Campbell said, sometimes you just gotta be badass, man. It ain't about technique all the time. Sometimes you just gotta be the most violent person on the field.
