The Miami Hurricanes football coaching staff have done a solid job on the recruiting trail in pursuing three-star 2028 offensive tackle Nijal Thigpen, with Miami currently named as the leader.

Nijal, a 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle in Miami's backyard from Miramar, Florida, told CanesInSight that Miami is currently viewed as the leader in his recruitment. He also talked about his recruitment with the Hurricanes and a dark horse team in his recruitment.

Which schools are going the hardest after you in your recruitment right now?

To be honest Miami is leading my recruitment as of right now. [The] Florida gators are a [team] to look out for in my recruitment.

How’s his relationship with Mario Cristobal and the position coach

My relationship with Coach Cristobal and Coach Alex [Mirabal] is very smooth. Going into my recruitment his expertise at the [offensive] position is something I value for playing at the University of Miami brand.

What is going to be the main thing you’re looking at when you get on Coral Gables?

Visiting the University of Miami, I look for seeing how the players develop on-and-off the field, the classroom, and just overall how to be in my Hurricane.

Do you plan on taking a visit to Miami anytime soon, and if so, when?

I’m still looking for a date to come visit. It will be sometime this month.
