Miami Concludes Orange-Green Intrasquad Scrimmage at Fan Fest

The Orange team earned a 2-0 win over the Green team in an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday night at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The Orange squad scored once in the first inning and added an insurance run in the fifth, while the pitching staff combined for a shutout. Jake Ogden led the Orange offense, finishing 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI.

Alex Sosa drove in the game’s first run with an RBI single in the opening frame, bringing in Ogden to notch an early 1-0 lead.

Orange pitchers limited the Green side to four hits. Left-hander Rob Evans started and worked five scoreless innings, striking out six without issuing a walk. Jake Lodgek, Jack Durso, Brixton Lofgren and closer Ryan Bilka followed out of the bullpen to preserve the shutout, combining for six strikeouts over the final four innings.

Right-hander Lazaro Collera made the start for the Green team, allowing two runs over five innings while striking out six. Lonzo Drummond, Michael Fernandez and Erick Peralta combined to toss three scoreless innings in relief.

Donavan Jeffrey recorded the lone extra-base hit for the Green squad with a double in the eighth inning.

Next up for the Hurricanes is opening weekend against Lehigh, with first pitch scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. Fans attending the game on Friday can receive a free schedule poster and magnet at the front gate while supplies last.
