Jai Lucas couldn't have gotten off to a better start with the Hurricanes. After clearing last season's roster, he has already added significant talent to the team, including a player ranked in the top 50 of the 2025 class, as well as some experienced college basketball players who reached the Sweet 16. Lucas has been actively recruiting and recently added two high school recruits: Slovakian wing Timotej Malovec and four-star combo guard Dante Allen, both joining Miami.

Let's start this Roster Tracker by discussing Allen, then move on to Malovec. After that, we'll take a look at who the Canes are currently targeting, as it's quite different from what we saw last time.

On Monday afternoon, the coaching staff of the Hurricanes, along with Coach Jai Lucas, received the news that four-star combo guard Dante Allen had decided to commit to Miami.

Dante stands at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, playing as a combo guard for Montverde Academy. He is currently ranked 42nd in the Class of 2025. Furthermore, he is the 6th-best combo guard in the nation and the 10th-best player in Florida. This season, he has averaged 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 48% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. Today, Miami and coach Lucas received the news that Slovakian wing Timotej Malovec has committed to the team.

Timotej, a player for Mega Mis in the ABA League, had an average of 5.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks over 25 minutes per game across 29 games in the 2024-25 season. He also played for Slovakia in the European Championships, where he averaged 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. In the latest season with Mega Mis, Tomotej achieved a field goal percentage of 40.1%, a three-point shooting percentage of 33.8%, and a free throw percentage of 78.6%. From a recruiting perspective, Miami is focusing on a number of players from the transfer portal that are worth noting, such as Marcus Allen, a guard transferring from Missouri. Additionally, Miami is in discussions with Kansas transfer Rakease Passmore and his teammate Rylan Griffen, who just got off a visit together to Miami. Syracuse transfer Chris Bell is a new target that has emerged for the Hurricanes.

GONE (GRADUATED/NBA DRAFT): Matthew Cleveland, Brandon Johnson, Lynn Kidd

TRANSFER PORTAL: Austin Swartz, Kiree Huie, Jalil Bethea, Paul Djobet, Jalen Blackmon, Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, Divine Ugochukwu, Nijel Pack, AJ Staton-McCray

I agree with your take. What I don't see among these acquisitions is a player who will be our "Go To" guy? Sorta Offense by committee which can work, but more often doesn't.

There are candidates on this newly-put together roster for sure but ... I'd feel better if we had that clear cut #1 option when we're looking to score.

If only we didn’t have 6-7 more roster spots to fill…

He's recruiting very well. I think you could make the argument it could have been a better start.

But regardless if we are spending this amount of money we are going to recruit well.
