Jai Lucas and coach Mario Cristbal are teaming up to land one of the nation's best wide receivers and also small forwards.

Russell is a solid basketball player at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, and he might be looking at a college career that involves both football and basketball.

Russell's basketball head coach, Melvin Randall, said in a recent interview that he can play all positions in basketball, showing his versatility.

“Calvin can play all five positions, and he’s a special kind of kid that understands the game and knows how to play it very well,” he said.

The versatile athlete, who plays in both track and field, has received basketball scholarship offers from schools like Michigan, Illinois, LSU, Arizona State, Penn State, FAU, and Tulane.

Russell, who is considered the No. 3 wide receiver in the 2026 class by 247Sports, played on Teddy Bridgewater's team that won the state championship at Miami Northwestern.

Miami has some catching up to do here. Personally, I don't think he's a must get for the hardwood, but football is another story. Where things stand now in his recruitment, schools will need to recruit him for both sports in order to give themselves the best opportunity of getting him next year.
