Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes were notified yesterday afternoon that four-star edge rusher Derwin Fields out of Brookhaven, (MS), who plays his high school football at Brookhaven High School, trimmed his list on Wednesday afternoon, and Miami was included.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound edge rusher’s finalists include Miami, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas Longhorns, Ole Miss Rebels, and the Georgia Bulldogs.
According to 247Sports, Fields is ranked as the No. 213 player in the 2027 class, the No. 21 edge rusher, and the No. 8 player in Mississippi.
Fields has only taken one official visit to one of his six finalists, a trip to Ole Miss. He hasn’t scheduled a visit to Miami just yet.
Miami has already secured a commitment from a edge rusher in its 2027 class, in Demarcus Deroche making his pledge to Miam,i. If the Hurricanes are able to land Fields, he would become the second edge rusher pledge in the class.
