Purdue men's basketball head coach Matt Painter talked in the postgame press conference after Miami fell short to the Boilermakers 79-69.
Head coach Matt Painter was asked about Miami Hurricanes Shelton Hednerson's performance during the loss today, and Painter talked highly on the former five-star freshman.
Here is what he had to say:
"He's great man. We had him in USA Basketball. He's a stud. He can play for the football team and basketball team, he just runs through people. We always talk about having a strong chest, and taking it, and he just pushed everybody back. He's a good player, he's an NBA player, he can rebound the basketball, he can defend, he can drive the basketball, but he was fabulous." Said Painter.
Three Miami Hurricanes scored in double figures, with freshman Shelton Henderson leading the way with 18 points, followed by senior forward Malik Reneau with 16 and Tre Donaldson with 13.
On the season, Shelton finished the year with 13.7 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. He also shot 55.9 percent form the floor, and shot 26 percent form behind the arc.
This young man has a lot to learn about his game, but after his impressive performance in the Round of 32 game versus Purdue, and the positive feedback from coaches and the media, he will defenaitly be the X-Factor for Miami next season.
