Mark Fletcher Details His Growth Ahead of Miami’s Matchup Against Stanford
Miami Hurricanes star-studded running back Mark Fletcher spoke ahead of Miami's week one game against the Stanford Cardinal. Check out everything he had to say ahead of the ACC clash:
On getting back on the field to play this weekend: It's about time. It's about time. We just ready.
On the Stanford film after watching them play in Week 0: It was helpful to see what they come out with, and what we've seen is great guys who play great together. They play fast, physical team. It's gonna definitely be a challenge for us that we're ready to take on.
On Javian Mallory: Man, it's the same game that we've been playing all our life, and just go out there, and you don't have to do anything special but just be yourself. Like, I wish somebody would've told me that my freshman year, so I'm happy that I'm here to tell him now.
On the offensive line: Them boys up there, they the hardest working in the building still, and it definitely comes from Coach Mirabal. He has them so locked in, so technically sound, and them guys, they just ready to move piles. They ready to move people out the way. They locked in, ready to go.
On Miami's commitment to running the football: We love to be physical every play of the game. Like, that's the coach from Miami. Like, that's what we're taught. Like, if you come to Miami, like you have to be physical enough. That's what you gotta be. So, no, that's what we love, and we'll call up to it when our name is called to be physical, but we'll be there.
On Mark Fletcher's growth and Miami's offense: As far as me, I feel like just working on just staying healthy, staying consistent, and just continuing to just push people to their best, and for me becoming a better running back. Like just staying, keeping my pad level, running, getting bigger, stronger, and faster. And as offense, yeah, we have a lot of weapons, and we're definitely just excited to showcase all of them. So it's gonna be fun to watch.
On traveling out West: Yeah, no, the sports science guys, they definitely do a great job of getting us prepared, you know, our bodies, and as far as, like, nutrition and things that we have to take in order for that. But at the end of the day, the message that Cristobal gives us is just taking that mindset, taking our Miami culture with us, packing it on the airplane with us, going to that trip to be able to face great opponents like Stanford. So, nah, we're gonna be mentally and physically ready to go.
