Mario Cristobal isn’t going anywhere, He’s staying in Coral Gables.
Miami has agreed to a long-term contract extension with its head coach, a move that keeps one of the biggest pieces of the program in place as the Hurricanes continue to chase a national championship.
The timing makes plenty of sense.
Cristobal has Miami in the best position it’s been in for years. The Hurricanes are coming off a 13-3 season that we should have won the ACC Title but got cut off and didn’t make it and a trip to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. They enter the 2026 season as the favorite to win the conference again and are expected to be in the national title conversation from Day 1.
Since taking over at his alma mater, Cristobal has rebuilt the roster from the inside out. Recruiting has taken off, the transfer portal has become amazing for the Hurricanes and Miami has become one of the deepest teams in the country, especially in the trenches.
The Hurricanes also return plenty of talent this fall. Darian Mensah steps in at quarterback after transferring from Duke, and Duke transfer Cooper Barkate will start at wide-receiver while playmakers like Mark Fletcher Jr., Malachi Toney, Bryce Fitzgerald, Ahmad Moten, Mohamed Toure, and Samson Okunlola give Miami one of the most experienced rosters in college football.

The results are starting to show and Miami is back on the map, landing top tier recruits, heading to the National Championship I mean it’s unbelievable what a coach that good can do to a program within years.
