The Mandarin Mustangs have not lost a season opener since the 2021-22 season. That streak still holds after tonight's game.
The Mandarin Mustangs (1-0) pulled out a 38-21 win over the McArthur Mustangs (0-1) in the CIS Game of The Week. Three Miami Hurricanes commits played in tonight's game: Knox Annis, Jaylyn Jones, and Sherrod Gournine. Another notable name on the field was five-star wide receiver Brysen Wright, who is another major target for the Hurricanes coaching staff.
On the offensive end, Brysen Wright recorded a total of 81 receiving yards for one touchdown. Delivering him the ball was Miami 2028 commit signal-caller Knox Annis, who threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Wright tallied three tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass breakup, and one interception. He had an incredible one handed catch into the end-zone.
CanesInSight's Christian Proscia caught up with Brysen Wright after the game after having an unbelievable pick to start the game, here is what he had to say after a solid performance on the field:
"I'm feeling great. Good win with my team, feeling great. Came out here, played ball, and just put our all into it. I watch film a lot and seen it coming. I just trusted myself and made the play. I feel very comfortable, just I've been doing it my whole life."
