Malachi Toney Landing on the College Football 27 Cover Proves Miami Is a National Brand Again

There was a time when Miami football was the center of the college football universe.

Miami wasn't just winning games, they were setting trends, creating stars (remember those guys, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed those guys rocked). Miami was the face of the sport, everybody wanted to wear green and orange.

Now, seeing Malachi Toney reportedly featured on the cover of College Football 27 feels like another sign that Miami is finally back where it left off.

Toney has quickly become one of the faces of college football. The electric wide receiver has generated buzz ever since arriving in Coral Gables, and his rise has helped the rise of the Hurricanes program itself. He helped Miami get to the National Championship Game. Without him, I don't really know if we would have made it there. But when fans across the country see the cover of one of the biggest sports video games in the world, they’ll see a Miami Hurricane front and center. Programs that own the spotlight produce players people know. They get recruits, for the longest time it seems, Miami was trying to get back into that conversation. Today, the Hurricanes are back.

Under Mario Cristobal, Miami has made it clear that the goal isn’t simply to compete. The goal is to put Miami back among college football’s elites like (Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State). The recruiting classes have improved, the talent level has exploded off the charts, pulling in 5-Star and 4-Star recruits yearly and weekly it seems, and expectations around the program are higher than they’ve been in years. Now one of Miami’s stars is representing Miami on its biggest gaming stage. People wore the logo whether they were fans or not.

But moments like this show just how much the view of Miami football has changed, the Hurricanes are recruiting at a high level. Miami is producing stars, Miami is has national attention now, and when one of your players is chosen to represent college football on the cover of one of the sport’s biggest video games, it’s hard to argue otherwise. So what do you think is the U back? I think so.

Obsessed with this and what Mario has done for this program!

As a kid I used to switch out the covers with a printed version of a Miami player.

This is so ******* awesome and huge for both Toney and the program.
I dont think people realize how big it is man.. One of the biggest brands in video games.. With the U flashing everywhere with a multi million dollar roll out and impression.. No matter what team you root for, the U will be flashed on every screen, every time the game is booted up

Absolutely bro. And for the many many casuals that play the game, it will likely influence at least some to actually become fans of the team.

The social media impressions alone is worth millions on this rollout.. The actual game release is gonna be insane, then the season should be a movie.. I know we dont care for it but branding and such matters.. Plus we are gonna be a top 5 team so all these kids gonna be playing online with the team (and we actually get more NIL based on usage, lol) so I guarantee in 3-5 years time you will have some kid commit based on playing with his favorite team.. The ramifications are in$ane..

And thats just for the school, team, brand.. Not even talking how Mali benefits and such..

No smile from Mali.

Has Jeremiah jumped back on social media to tell everyone he turned Miami down again?
