Kentucky Guard Jaland Lowe Expecting To Enter Transfer Portal, Has Ties To Lucas Family
Former ACC point guard Jaland Lowe announced yesterday morning that he plans to enter the transfer portal after spending one season at Kentucky.
Lowe has ties to the Miami Hurricanes staff. His godfather is John Lucas, the father of Hurricanes head coach Jai Lucas.
Lowe had an up-and-down year with Kentucky, dealing with a shoulder injury suffered before the 2025–26 season. He played in just nine games, averaging 8.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 18 minutes per game, while shooting 35.8% from the field and 20.8% from three.
Before transferring to Kentucky, Lowe was the main guy for a Pittsburgh Panthers squad. He started 31 games as a sophomore and 19 as a freshman. During the 2023–24 season, he averaged 12.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in conference play.
In the 2024–25 season, Lowe averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 1.8 steals, and 4.2 rebounds over 30 games, while playing 35.4 minutes per contest. He shot 37.7% from the field, 26.8% from three, and 88.3% from the free-throw line.
Miami is looking to replace starting point guard Tre Donaldson, and Lowe’s already has connections to the staff.
Will the Hurricanes make a move? Time will tell.
