Hurricane Running-Backs Omitted from Doak Walker Watch List

The Doak Walker Award is presented annually to the nations top collegiate running-back. Recently they released their 104 man watch list, and shockingly, Miami running-backs Mark Fletcher Jr and Jordan Lyle were both absent from the list.

Assuming the Hurricanes don't have a top 100 running-back in the nation is relatively absurd but we will get plenty of chances to put a lock on some of the nations perceived top ball carriers. In fact, all 11 of the Hurricanes games against Division one opponents will feature at least one player named to the watch list with Louisville and Syracuse each having a pair.

WATCH LIST RECIPIENTS WE PLAY

Jeremiah Love
( Notre Dame ) - August 31

Cartervious Norton ( South Florida ) - September 13

Jadan Baugh ( Florida ) - September 20

Gavin Sawchuk ( Florida State ) - October 4

Duke Watson ( Louisville ) - October 17

Sedrick Irvin ( Stanford ) - October 25

Derrick McFall ( SMU ) - November 1

Good. Keep some of them hungry.

I'm sure there are some on there with worse stats, no history, etc.

But if you look at Fletchers game logs they are not something you'd look at and go "Thats a Doak Walker award winner potentially."

They are going to be running behind an elite OL. Make them put you on this list with your performance. Not just because you are now a featured back at Miami.

We didn’t need another reason to prove the people who make these lists are ****eaters who don’t watch football.

They couldn't decide on who will break out. That room is deep, and the OL is crazy. BY COMMITTEE.

And yet in may end up being a Top 5 running back room.

Don't care about preseason watch lists, awards, rankings, etc.

The only thing that matters is wins and losses. If we win 10+ there should be plenty of guys on post season recognition lists.

Win games, Win ACC, Make Playoffs, Don’t forget to kneel. Don’t choke. Don’t make excuses…

Awards will flow from there and continue to do so, if the team does the above consistently.

The SMU pick is kinda crazy right? I think it’s Love/Isaac browns to lose.

We will likely go RB by committee so I can see the shade making some sense

The darling is Love and as long as he is healthy and just has an average year go ahead and chalk that award to him.
