One of the headliners of Mississippi’s loaded running back list this recruiting cycle, Ty Keys made his way down to South Florida for a midweek visit to Miami. A multi-sport athlete shining on both the gridiron and the diamond, the four-star running back detailed the schools at the top of his list heading into this summer as he won’t take any more unofficials with the high school baseball season heating up. Here’s everything Keys said to CanesInSight following his Thursday visit.
Overall visit recap:
“It was amazing.”
“Hanging out with coach Upshaw it was definitely a big change, we haven’t had the most time to talk, but we definitely got a good connection."
"Cristobal's energy is amazing, everybody’s energy is amazing."
On Miami as an option:
"For sure, it is definitely the top contender. I am definitely going to be back on the OV, June 12th through the 14th. I am going to stay longer than the 12th through the 14th because It was so good being here.”
“I talked to Bryce Fitzgerald, he gave me some stuff to take when I go into freshman year — Jordan Lyle, Mark Fletcher, all the guys, I feel good about it.”
On his recruitment timeline:
"I am getting closer and closer. After official visits, it is going to be time."
Mentioned he will only be taking OV’s due to his upcoming baseball playoffs
On what he saw during practice:
“It is so intense. Focus is everything.”
On what his style of play is:
“I see myself like Le’Veon Bell because I have patience and I am pretty quick.”
On his baseball talents:
“I am a pitcher up to 92 on the mound, I am batting .475 right now. Baseball is going really good.”
On Miami’s scheme of using multiple backs:
“When you have a guy that is going to switch out with you and do the same thing you are going to do, that is good. You trust everybody, I like it.”
On other schools in his process alongside Miami:
“Ole Miss and Florida State.”
“Those are the only three teams that I’m really rocking with.”
