Five-Star Guard Brandon McCoy Nears Decisions, Includes Hurricanes in Final Four Schools

One of the top undecided recruits in the class of 2026 has trimmed his list to just four schools, with Jai Lucas's Miami Hurricanes included.

Five-star shooting guard Brandon McCoy out of (Chatsworth, CA) where he plays high school basketball at Sierra Canyon announced on ESPN that he trimmed his college decision; his list includes Miami, Alabama, Michigan, and Arkansas.



According to the 247Sports rankings, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard is a five-star prospect, ranked No. 14 overall in the 2026 class, No. 3 at his position, and No. 3 among players from California.

McCoy has already taken official visits to Miami, Arkansas, Michigan, and Alabama.

Sources have confirmed with CanesInSight that Michigan and the Miami Hurricanes are the top dogs in his recruitment, with the Wolverines leaning to land him.

Michigan’s currently has Elliot Cadeau, and Trey McKinney returning for the backcourt, and they have their eyes on John Blackwell in the portal. Miami currently holds one commitment in the 2026 class in five-star power forward Caleb Gaskins.

Can Miami land the five-star shooting guard out of California? We shall see.

Watched him last night in all American game. Kids got a decent game but his shot is leaving a lot to be desired. Would've loved to get that rippey kid who's going to puke. That kids got an old school New York guards game. This kid will be a lock down defender though.
