FINAL: Tru Washington hits game-winning free throws to complete Miami's late comeback win over NC State

It wasn’t always pretty. It definitely wasn’t a three-point clinic. But it was enough.

The Canes shot 47.8% from the field and just 17% from three, and somehow that didn’t even matter. Why? Because they flat-out went to work inside and had dudes step up when it counted, cough cough, Tru Washington.

Four different players finished in double figures, and that’s how you survive a night where the outside shot just refuses to fall. When the threes weren’t dropping, Miami attacked the paint, got to their spots, and made it a grown-man game.

And then there’s Malik Reneau.

That’s your game MVP. No debate.

Reneau was a bucket all night long, pouring in 26 points on 12-of-19 shooting. Efficient. Physical. Calm. He added six boards, an assist, and a block in 36 big-time minutes. Every time the Canes needed a steady touch, he delivered. Mid-post? Got it. Through contact? No problem. Tough finish in traffic? Easy money.

Ironic a free throw wins it for us when it’s most likely the very thing that will keep us from advancing.
