Behind a balanced offensive attack and a game-high 19 points from Shelton Henderson, the No. 14 University of Miami men's basketball team rolled past Wagner, 83-57, Friday night in its home opener at the Watsco Center.

With the win, Miami has now won its last seven home openers, all by double digits. The Hurricanes have won 13 consecutive non-conference games against unranked opponents, marking the longest streak since 2009-11.

Henderson paced the Hurricanes (1-1) on 8-of-12 shooting, adding five assists and three steals. Malik Reneau chipped in 12 points, while Caleb Gaskins added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. Dante Allen provided a spark off the bench with eight points, six rebounds and five assists.

Miami controlled the game on both ends of the floor, shooting 53.4 percent (31-of-58) from the field while limiting Wagner (0-2) to 33.3 percent (21-of-63). The Hurricanes dominated the paint, outscoring the Seahawks 52-22, and held a commanding 24-3 advantage in fast-break points.

After a back-and-forth opening stretch, Miami seized control with a 15-2 run that turned a three-point advantage into a 30-14 lead with 4:35 remaining in the first half. The Hurricanes held Wagner to just 21 points on 23.5 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes to take a 34-21 advantage into the break.

Miami carried that momentum into the second half, opening the period on a 10-2 run to extend its lead to 44-23. The Hurricanes continued to pull away behind an efficient offensive performance, shooting 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the floor over the final 20 minutes while scoring 49 second-half points.

Defensively, Miami forced 15 turnovers and converted them into 20 points, finishing with 10 steals. The Hurricanes also recorded 18 assists, including five apiece from Henderson and Allen.

Brent Bland and Somto Cyril each contributed nine, while Robert Miller III added seven.

The Hurricanes continue their homestand Monday when they welcome North Florida to the Watsco Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the game airing live on ACC Network.
