'Everybody’s getting after it': Ezekiel Ayangbile discusses takeaways from Miami visit
Houston native Ezekiel Ayangbile, a rising versatile defensive lineman, was part of Miami’s loaded list of recruits on Saturday’s “Spring Splash.” The 6-foot-3, 270-pound lineman enjoyed himself this weekend — all smiles with fellow recruits and UM coaching staff. With multiple schools in the mix for the Langham Creek product, the Canes made a strong move this weekend during his visit and seem to be near the top of his board. I caught up with Ayangbile on Saturday, here’s everything the four-star prospect had to say.
On the highlights during the visit:
“I love the aggression that the whole team plays with down here in Miami.”
“I feel like it's a great program, and I think it's just awesome seeing everybody fly around. They play with high energy, everybody's getting after it. It's really cool to watch.”
On what caught his eye during practice:
“The coaches down here really know what they're doing. They have great ideas and great teaching that they do on these kids, and I feel like they're really developing to be NFL talents.”
“They play with a high motor, and without a doubt it's cool to watch and see them tweak things on the fly, and when they fix it, it's really quick. Everybody plays with super fast speed and a high motor.”
On Miami’s defensive line development:
“I think everybody plays so hard down here, and I think that it's awesome because a lot of the things that they work on down here is very self-tailored — that's to sharpen your abilities and help you out in the process.”
“They definitely have a great track record when it comes to developing kids at this position.”
On the schools at the top of his recruitment process:
“I have Miami, Ohio State, LSU, Arizona State, Kentucky, Virginia Tech.”
“A lot of those schools are high up on my board right now, and I'm definitely going to see how that all shapes up.”
On where Miami stands in that ranking:
“This is going to be high up on my board … This would be something I could definitely be a part of in the future.”
On his relationship with the coaching staff:
“Everybody that I met down here in terms of coaching has a great soul and a great spirit, and I think it's really just awesome because you don't have to connect with one specific person — you can be cool with the entire staff if you wanted to.
“I'm really close to my position coaches down here, Coach Lewis and even Coach Taylor.”
“I think they're really awesome people, they help me right now even though I'm not even at their school. It's just really cool learning things from some of the best and I appreciate them.”
