Miami fell short to No. 2 seed Purdue Boilermakers in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, to a final score of 79-69.

Three Miami Hurricanes scored in double figures, with freshman Shelton Henderson leading the way with 18 points, followed by senior forward Malik Reneau with 16 and Tre Donaldson with 13.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, this season showed what’s to come for the Miami Hurricanes and Jai Lucas’ basketball squad.

Miami is bringing in a top-10 player in the country in Caleb Gaskins, and Jai Lucas has completely turned around Miami into a winning program after going 7–24 last season.

Miami finishes 26–9 after today’s loss to Purdue, with a 13–5 record in ACC play, good for third-best in the conference. Miami got back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023-24 Final Four run.

A year ago, the Canes finished 7–24 overall and just 3–17 in conference.

Jai Lucas is a program changer, and the best has yet to come.

88 and 11 need to find new homes. Otherwise everyone else should return and then hit the portal hard.

That was a tough out. Purdue plays well to their strengths. But the canes played well enough to win, but the tourney is about capitalizing on momentum. Unfortunately, for our boys, they lost their offensive groove, and Purdue had the staple set plays that put the game out of reach late. The future is bright though. Go Canes.

Despite Jai cobbling together a good year, we still need to really flip over this roster. Keep Shelton, develop Allen and Gaskins. Then give Jai some money to buy some real talent, preferably multi year guys.

We better hand on to Henderson and Allen because teams will be offering them a lot of money. These guys are future NBA players. Henderson would be going to the NBA right now if he had a consistent jump shot and free throw shooting.

Allen is going to be really, really good. His speed and defense are off the charts and he shoots well.
