Miami Hurricanes baseball standouts Daniel Cuvet and Derek Williams have been named to the 2026 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, USA Baseball announced Thursday.

Cuvet, a junior infielder, earns a spot on the midseason watch list for the third consecutive year after also appearing on last season’s semifinalist list and this year’s preseason watch list.

Through 29 games, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native is batting .311 with 33 hits in 106 at-bats, totaling 41 runs scored, nine doubles, 10 home runs and 36 RBI. He has recorded multiple RBI in nine games this season and has reached base safely in 24 of 29 contests.

Williams, a senior outfielder, has put together one of the most productive offensive seasons in the country, batting .415 with 44 hits in 106 at-bats across 29 games. He has driven in 47 runs while scoring 32 times, adding 11 doubles and a team-leading 11 home runs. Williams has tallied at least one hit in 23 of 29 games this season, including 14 multi-hit performances, and has recorded multiple RBI in 13 contests.

The Golden Spikes Award, presented annually since 1978, honors the nation’s top amateur baseball player based on on-field performance, sportsmanship and overall contribution to the game. Miami’s Pat Burrell is the only Hurricane to win the award in 1988. The watch list will continue to be updated throughout the season before semifinalists are announced May 14, followed by finalists on June 10 and the winner on June 29.

Miami returns to conference play this weekend, hosting Virginia Tech for a three-game series at Mark Light Field at Alex Rodriguez Park, with first pitch scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. All three games will be available on ACCNX, with radio coverage on WVUM 90.5 FM.
