Miami's passing game was unbelievably great against Florida State yesterday night in the win, especially when you have guys like Malachi Toney and CJ Daniels to carry the load of the receiving corps.

Toney showed why he is one of the best freshmen in the country. The freshman caught 7 passes for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns. He made a huge catch in the second quarter that gave Miami the lead and set the tone for the rest of the night after Bryce Fitzgerald’s pick.

CJ Daniels was just as important. The senior finished with 5 catches for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns. Every time Miami needed a big play on third down, Beck looked his way, and Daniels came through.

Together, Toney and Daniels had 12 catches, 185 yards, and all four of Miami’s touchdowns. Miami’s run game wasn’t much of a factor, only picking up 96 yards, but it didn’t matter because the receivers kept moving the ball. The wideouts dominated, combining for 19 catches, 264 yards, and 4 touchdowns.

Tight end Elijha Lofton came up right behind the one-two punch of Daniels and Toney. Lofton was seen taking short passes and turning them into decent gains. He finished with three receptions for 21 yards, but Toney and Daniels were the only true wideouts to record catches.

There’s just something about that Daniels-Toney combo that teams can’t stop. Through five games, the two have combined for 644 yards. Toney leads with 375, while Daniels sits at 269.

Check out some of the highlights from the two yesterday:
