If you've been following the Miami Hurricanes offseason very closely, you would know that the CBS Sports crew has been very high on the Hurricanes this offseason.

Not only have they placed the Hurricanes as the No. 1 team in their Way-Too-Early Top-25 rankings, but they've also ranked new Miami quarterback transfer Darian Mensah as a top-five college football quarterback ahead of the 2026-27 season.

"The Hurricanes' 2026 answer following back-to-back jackpots with transfer quarterbacks Cam Ward and Carson Beck, Mensah starred at Duke last season and helped the Blue Devils win a conference championship after throwing for 34 touchdowns and nearly 4,000 yards. Mensah reached a settlement with Duke in January a few days after the Blue Devils filed a lawsuit following his intentions to enter the portal," Wrote the CBS Sports crew.

Here are the four quarterbacks ahead of Mensah heading into the 2026-27 season, according to CBS Sports:

1. Dante Moore
2. Julian Sayin
3. Arch Manning
4. Trinidad Chambliss

Mensah has been receiving significant praise from the Hurricanes, as star defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald was asked what it's like going up against Darian Mensah, and he didn't hold back:

"He's probably one of the greatest QBs I've ever played against," said Fitzgerald.

Mensah was originally a three-star recruit coming out of high school, signing with the Tulane Green Wave. After leading the Green Wave to a 10+ win season his freshman year, he decided to transfer again to join Manny Diaz's scheme at Duke, where he had another breakout year.

Mensah threw for nearly 4,000 yards, 34 touchdowns, and again just six interceptions, with his completion rate sitting around 67 percent.

Now backed up by a strong recruiting class by the Hurricanes coaching staff, he is ready to lead the team in a national championship contention.

Let the games be played. We’ll have the true picture then.

I can understand 3 of those 4 names ahead of Mensah.

But Arch Manning should be #1 on the Most Overrated QBs list.
I watched a lot of UT and Arch definitely looked the part at times but was wildly inconsistent. It's all "potential" with him. I'd much rather ride with Mensah.

That's fair. I didn't say he was untalented, and he could definitely develop into a very good QB.

But thus far, the hype FAR exceeds the quality of the actual on-field production.

... I mean welcome to April and spring ball and the off-season; people shouldn't talk, predict or offer up opinions over the next six months, until kickoff?
