Carson Beck talks about replacing Cam Ward

Carson Beck came out to the ACC Media Days with the Hurricanes, and he even answered a question about replacing Cam Ward and how that pressure affects him. And he had a great answer.

"The last school I was at, I followed up a two-time national champion. So, I didn't feel any pressure there. It's a game; I've played football my whole life. I've played quarterback since I was seven years old, and it's something I love to do. I have a lot of good talent around me and really good coaches in a position to not only help me achieve my goals but also be successful.

"Again, just looking forward to the opportunity, and again, I have the opportunity to go out and play football again. I haven't done it in a while, so looking forward to it." Said Beck.

Beck doesn’t seem to be feeling much pressure—and it makes sense. He pointed out that he already replaced a two-time national champion in Stetson Bennett.

Last season at Georgia, he started 13 games and completed 290 of 448 passes for 3,485 yards, with 28 touchdowns and 12 picks, finishing with a 64.7% completion rate.

Watching his interview back, Beck came off super calm and confident. It feels like Miami got itself another great one.

Beck was always going to have to tip his hat to Ward. Those were going to be big shoes to fill, and Beck has to demonstrate on the field that he can fill Ward's.

Dawn of the dawg website was talking about Georgia superior talent level over Miamis talent

What does “more efficient on offense” mean?

You expect us to put up more yards and points and have the number one offense again?
Yeah, thought “efficient “is an odd word to use, but, and I’m just spit balling here, some of our offense was all Cam. His throws, from every angle, his runs, his patience. Even when plays broke down more than not he produced positive yards.Carson played in a pretty structured system. And, if he brings that mindset and uses all his tools to get everyone involved in the schemes then it could “ seem” more efficient, with similar outcomes. WTF, I don’t know.😹

We might not have the same statistical numbers in the passing game as last year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be more efficient. With a stronger O-line, a more consistent run game, and gaget guys like Marion and Lofton who bring a new element that we didn't have last year, we’ll be smarter with the ball and still have an effective offense. I think we’ll control games better—winning at the line of scrimmage and managing the clock to wear teams down. It might not be as flashy, but this will still be one of the better offenses in the country

If we actually have a defense where we're not racing all game to match someone like Louisville or Syracuse scoring 40 points on us, we'll probably have offensive stats that are less impressive, but it would give us a chance to play backups and be less stressful to watch. I'd be fine with that.
