Carson Beck of the Miami Hurricanes has been named as one of the top college football quarterbacks in the nation, according to ESPN's latest ranking of the 15-best quarterbacks in college football.

ESPN writer Adam Rittenberg published his ranking of the top 15 college football quarterbacks for the upcoming 2025 season, placing Beck as the seventh-best quarterback in the country.

In 2023, Beck stood out as one of the top quarterbacks in the country, racking up 3,941 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and just 6 interceptions, averaging an impressive 9.5 yards per attempt. In 2024 he resulted in 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Beck has an impressive record of 24 wins and three losses in his last two years as a starting quarterback. He has passed for 7,426 yards with a completion rate of 68.4%, along with 52 touchdown passes and 18 interceptions

Here is what ESPN had to say about Carson Beck:

"Beck has been through a lot since this time last year, when many expected him to lead Georgia to another national title and then exit to be a first-round NFL draft pick. He dealt with a rough midseason stretch that included four multiple-interception performances in five games. But Beck also had five games with three or more touchdown passes, including the last two regular-season games, and still went 24-3 as Georgia's starter with 7,426 passing yards and 52 touchdowns. Did his numbers dip without star tight end Brock Bowers and with a shakier group of receivers last fall? No doubt. He's also coming off of elbow surgery. But Beck can play at a high level and joins an offense under coordinator Shannon Dawson that led the FBS in yards and ranked third in passing last fall with Ward at the helm."

"He showed good pocket awareness," the coach added. "He's one that I think is a little bit more athletic than people give credit for. I'm not saying a blazer, but he runs good enough when he wants to run. I thought that kid can make the throws, he was a good decision-maker. I know he threw a ton of picks, I get it, but that's because of the confidence that he has to make some throws and throw into tight windows."

When do we exact for him to start throwing ?

Granted, the PSU offense does him no favors, but I just don't see it with Allar.
I was about to post the same thing. I didn't watch much PSU during regular season but he looked very, very mediocre to me during the playoffs. I just pulled up his stats from the playoffs and he was 13-22, 13-25, and 12-23 and totaled 433 yards passing in 3 games (144/game). The stats confirm my recollection.

That's with Tyler Warren (easily one of 2024's best players in CFB) on the end of those passes and generating YAC.

Someone recently posted a "Minnesota's Defense vs. PSU" vid.
This will further confirm.

Allar will make some incredible throws, but then there are a handful of passes each game where it looks like someone who has never heard of football before quantum leaps into his body after the snap.

Just in the playoffs, the first series vs SMU, he had a 3rd down, rolls out, pats the ball, has a WR come across the field in front of him wide open, pats the ball, the defenders clear out to where he can run and pick up the first, doesn't do it, just pats the ball again and throws it into the dirt at the feet of a WR. Then the final INT to ice the game vs ND was absolutely inexcusable. The guy just doesn't have it upstairs at this point in time.

What's the word on him? That the physical talent is there but not the actual play just yet, and with more maturing, maybe he develops?

Pretty much. He's got the size/strength you want, plus a strong arm that can make all the throws. His footwork is messy, and the decision-making just isn't there yet. He improved quite a bit from '23 to '24, so he'll need to make strides again this year.

He'll probably get drafted high because GMs will fall for the physical attributes, but the high variability means you could get Rob Johnson, Ryan Tannehill or Josh Allen

Curious what everyone thinks of Klubnik. I’m not sold, but I don’t have anything against him either. Probably just haven’t watched him enough.

He's a very solid QB. His stats, IMO, seem a bit misleading. He struggled against the better defenses he played ad beat up on some of the weaker teams on the schedule. Threw 26 of his 36 TDs against the likes of App St (115th in scoring D), NCSU (103rd), Stanford (116th), Wake Forest (114th) , UVA (93rd), VT (39th), Pitt (92nd) and Citadel (FCS data not included).

Weirdly enough, he had arguably his two best games of the season against SMU (32nd) and Texas (3rd) in the playoffs.

Thanks for the write up.

I’m not sure who the person that was quoted in the article that said “threw a ton of picks” and while granted, Beck did not have his best year in 2024, does this stat line sound like a “ton“ of pics? I mean, yes, it’s too many picks for someone who’s supposed to be elite, but I don’t see a ton.

Setting my expectations extremely low regarding Beck. He failed to meet the first round pick expectations last season, plus returning from injury to his throwing arm. Hopefully, I'll be pleasantly surprised

He got better as the talent around him got better

I hope I'm wrong but I think too many people here think that Carson Beck is a very good QB. He wasn't that good last year, played poorly against tougher competition and now he's hurt. I hope Mario has a plan just in case he doesn't work out. Then again he's now in the ACC so that's a good thing.

Mario's plan is Beck or bust. We don't have a serviceable backup. Beck goes down, or his injury lingers, and we are screwed. His elbow concerns me too. We better pray it isn't an issue
