Carson Beck’s Heisman campaign just got a major boost. After Miami’s huge win over Notre Dame, the Hurricanes’ new quarterback now has the third-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy, according to FanDuel.
Right now, only LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier and South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers are ahead of Beck in the Heisman race. That’s pretty impressive considering this was Beck’s first-ever start for Miami after transferring in from Georgia. People already knew he had talent, but Saturday night was his chance to prove it on the big stage yet again.
Beck made the most of it. He led the Hurricanes to a 27–24 win over the No. 6 team in the country. He completed 20 of 31 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. His numbers weren’t crazy like a video game, but the way he managed the game and delivered when Miami needed him most stood out. Beck looked calm, collected, and in control from start to finish.
Beating Notre Dame on opening weekend put the Hurricanes right in the national spotlight, and Beck was a big reason why. His rise in the Heisman odds shows that the rest of the country is paying attention, too.
If Miami keeps stacking wins and Beck continues to play at this level, he’s going to stay in the Heisman conversation all year long.
