Canes Put The Boots to Hawaii

The Miami Hurricanes (8-1) traveled to Hawaii a couple of days ago to prepare for the Diamonds tournament. They were respectful guests until it was time to get the competition going. A tight game for the first half, Miami bludgeoned the Rainbow Warriors quickly and efficiently in the 2nd half. We learned right before the game started that Reggie Johnson would not be playing due to injury. This worried me some. I figured RJ would have another dominate double double performance, but after Reg, there really isnt a clear cut backup player who can take the reigns and step in when an injury occurs. So what do ya know? 18th year senior Julian Gamble got the start for the Canes.

Alot of people, myself included, were incredibly weary of how the game was going to play out underneath. Well it didnt take long for Gamble to look at each and every one of us in the face and say

. Gamble was a point and a rebound away from a double double in the first half.

TOP PERFORMERS - CANES

Julian Gamble went absolutely crazy. He looked like Bill Russell out there. 16 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks.

Durand Scott went nuts in the second half and was shooting no look behind the back 35 foot 3 pointers. Not even joking. 20 points, 5 assists, 3 steals. 4-8 from the 3 point line, all 4 makes coming in the 2nd half.

Barry Larkins kid or nephew or whatever had 12 points and 2 boards.

TMJ had 11 quite points off of the bench.

Im not going to post who the top performers were for Hawaii, because they all had this aura about them lke they thought they were hot **** or something (#42) and really they were trash and were lucky that they even came within 30.

FINAL SCORE - 73-58 CANES

The Hurricanes play Arizona tonight at 11:30est on ESPN2 in round 2 of the tournament. Arizona is a top 5 team in the nation and this will easily be our toughest game yet. Getting Reggie back would be absolutely monstrous. We need him tonight.

Finally, it feels really, really **** good CANES ROLLED

lol

Gamble was kicking some *** on the boards last night. I can't wait until he lines up at tight end for us next season.

Gamble is the opposite of explosive. Not a football player type.

Gamble has had some decent games in the past against crap competition. I would be seriously surprised and impressed if he did anything against Zona.

Gamble shocked me! Larkin's back to back steals changed the game, then Scott just went off. Brown needs to find his shot. I would bet RJ would be back tonight against Zona.

if Brown starts hitting his 3s he is a viable sixth man.

Larranaga said he doesn't expect Johnson back the rest of the tournament. Also, McKinney Jones spent Friday in the hospital with a 105-degree fever
