Brewton Expecting Miami Offer

Brewton Expecting Miami Offer

Tito Benach
2015 Columbus (Fla.) Safety Calvin Brewton (6'1", 180) was one of the Explorers' main contributors on defense this season, as he was key threat in the secondary all year.

Brewton finished his first season of Varsity football this past year and talked about the experience.

“Last season went great, a lot better then I expected. I had around 45 tackles, 1 interception, and a blocked punt.”

Brewton wants to work on some key things going into the spring and summer.

“I want to work on my upper body and try to get stronger. I want to get faster as well, but I would rather focus on gaining 10 to 15 pounds of muscle.”

The athletic safety is also planning on attending some camps during the summer to improve his game.

“I plan on going to the FSU camp, the Miami camp, a camp in Georgia, and maybe go to a camp at UF.”

The rising junior is garnering interest from some schools such as Florida State and Miami, and also has interest in Georgia, Oregon and Florida.

Brewton only holds one offer at the moment from FSU, but does expect a Miami this year.

“I have a lot of interest in Miami, I like the tradition and I really like being home instead of going away for college. I’m expecting an offer from Miami by the end of this year.”

The Columbus product has a connection to the Hurricanes already through former Explorer Deon Bush.

“I’ve talked to Deon a lot of times. He tells me to keep working and to keep getting better. He saw my work ethic freshman year and he liked it."

I want to say this about Calvin, he spoke with Miami coach Paul Williams twice already including recently when he came to the school and once during the Southridge game early in the year. Also he told me that the Miami coaches will be at his spring game this year.

The safety lineage is getting sicker and sicker.
