BOX SCORE: Team rebounding allowed Miami to pull away from North Carolina in statement win
Miami handled business and shot down the No. 11 team in the land in the North Carolina Tar Heels on Tuesday afternoon at the Watsco Center.
For the game, Miami shot 47 percent overall from the field and 3-13 from long range. Meanwhile, North Carolina connected on 40 percent of its looks and 8-27 from beyond the arc. UM registered just 15 assists on the afternoon. Miami went 14-23 from the free throw line while North Carolina finished 8-10.
Malik Reneau was the Hurricanes leading scorer, totaling 16 points and 10 rebounds on 5-11 shooting while Ernest Udeh Jr. added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Tre Donaldson posted 14 points and six rebounds in 36 minutes of action.
The Hurrianes continually created stops in the second half and that allowed the one-possession underdog to pull away from North Carolina in Jai Lucas’s first signature win.
