As reported by ESPN, the top quarterback in the transfer portal, Sam Leavitt, is reportedly signing with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers after visiting several other schools.

The news came from ESPN's Pete Thamel, who mentioned on Monday morning that Sam Leavitt is likely to choose the LSU Tigers over other schools like Miami, Kentucky, and Tennessee, where he also took visits.

During the 2024 season at Arizona State, he passed for more than 2,800 yards, threw 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions, and added over 400 rushing yards along with five rushing touchdowns. Even though his 2025 season was cut short by injuries, Leavitt remained effective. He threw for over 1,600 yards, completed 10 touchdown passes with only three interceptions, and rushed for an additional 300 yards and five touchdowns.

Now, Miami will need to focus on finding a new quarterback. Whoever they target, they will likely pursue hard after missing out on the top quarterback.

This situation is disappointing... But we’ll see who steps up next.

After weeks of rumors, there’s finally something real to chew on in Miami’s quarterback transfer hunt.

How long will he miss do we know yet?

Not to jinx it - but this guy is a fool if he doesn't come here. Which team can boast the o-line, rb room, Malachi toney, and a badass D that we got? And oh yea, we are not sparing a cent on NIL deals. A no-brainer.
agreed! He'd set himself up perfectly to have an All-American type year and then go in the first round

I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that he'd be out for up to 6 months. He got injured early November

Don't care about the character concerns or brother as the agent nonsense, even if they are legit. Do care that he will miss most or all of the spring.

Would prefer Simpson but fine with Leavitt. His mobility will add a wrinkle that we aren't used to having.

Read his brother reps him and is asking for the school to either sign more of his talent OR provide him with additional players to rep.
If even remotely true, you tell Sam he needs to get his brother in check or you wish them both on their way. It's an easy adult conversation.

There's a lot of ******* family members out there. You just don't let them at the adults table. If they aren't kept in check by the player and insist on being a center piece, you show the family the door.
