A pair of Hurricanes announced on Tuesday afternoon that they'll explore their options elsewhere.
John Laboy II and Treyvon Maddox both announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal, as they both announced on Tuesday afternoon. Both of the Hurricanes were deep in the Hurricanes bench as they played limited minutes on the court for the Hurricanes.
Laboy II, is a 6-foot-3 point guard out of Texas, he was a three-star recruit per 247Sports, and only saw the court six times this season. On the other hand, Maddox redshirted his freshman season, so he'll start fresh elsewhere as a redshirt freshman. Maddox was a former four-star recruit out of Orlando, FL.
Last season, Maddox played for Oak Ridge High School, where he helped the Pioneers to a 17-10 record and averaged 10.1 points and 3.8 rebounds.
We hope the best for the two former Hurricanes. This will now give the Hurricanes coaching staff to fill six spots for the 2026-27 Miami Hurricanes roster. More portal entries, yes please.
