Five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, a member of the 2026 class, just wrapped up a visit to Miami last week. I got to chat with him after his visit.
Thoughts after the visit:
"The overall visit was amazing. From the moment we stepped on campus, I had a really good feeling. The energy around the program and the way everyone treated my family and me was genuine. It felt like a place I could definitely see myself at. There was a strong sense of family and tradition, and the coaches and staff really made us feel welcome."
How many times have you visited Miami?
"This was my third or maybe even fourth time visiting, so I’ve had a few opportunities to really get familiar with the environment and culture there."
What were the 3-4 biggest highlights of this visit for you?
"Some of the biggest highlights for me were just the overall family atmosphere, seeing how the defense is coached and played—it fits my style perfectly—and being able to relax and have some fun. We had a great time eating good food, hanging out on the beach, taking a boat ride, and having dinner at the head coach’s house. All of that just made the experience even better."
What coaches did you spend time with? What was their message to you, and how did they make you feel?
"I spent time with the defensive coordinator, Coach Hetherman, the D-line coaches Coach Taylor and Coach Lu, and of course, Coach Cristobal. Their message was clear: they really want me, they need me, and they believe I can be a big-time Cane. That meant a lot. The way they talked to me—honest, direct, and passionate—made me feel wanted and appreciated. It definitely made an impact."
Where is Miami on your list after this visit? How are you feeling about them? Did this visit help them?
"Miami is still firmly in my top four, and this visit definitely helped solidify their spot. I’m feeling really good about them after this weekend."
What was your biggest takeaway from this visit?
"The biggest takeaway for me was seeing how much of a true family the program is—from the coaching staff to the players to the way they welcomed my family. It wasn’t just about football; it was about being part of something bigger. That really stood out." Said Bryce.
Perry-Wright attends Buford High School in Georgia, where he just recently trimmed his list to just four teams in Clemson, Miami, Texas, and Texas A&M.
Perry-Wright is ranked as the No. 34 overall recruit and the fifth-ranked EDGE player in the nation. he had an impressive junior year, recording 57 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and nine sacks.
As a sophomore, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound lineman achieved a throw of 41-9 in the shot put and finished the 100-meter dash in 12.60 seconds.
Can the Hurricanes land Bryce Perry-Wright? Guess we will have to wait and see until July 4th.
