Four-star junior safety Cortez Redding from Jonesboro High School (Ga.) has narrowed his list of schools to just four and has announced his commitment date.

According to a recent Twitter post, Redding's finalists are Miami, Indiana, NC State, and Ole Miss. He revealed that he will make his commitment on July 25th.

Redding recently visited Miami on May 30 for the first official visit weekend of the Miami Hurricanes, where he met the coaching staff and explored the campus. He also visited NC State on June 6 and Ole Miss on June 13.

Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, Redding has received 50 offers and currently ranks No. 242 overall, No. 20 among safeties, and No. 24 in Georgia on the 247Sports 2026 Composite.

During his sophomore year, Redding recorded 96 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one interception, and one forced fumble. In his junior season, he achieved 118 tackles, six tackles for loss, three interceptions, and 10 pass breakups.

Who really has an informed opinion and ability to determine how to rank Jackson, Stewart and Redding? Are we just going off highlights?
Are we reflexively wanting one player more than another simply because we don’t think he will come to UM?

Be careful about ranking players you have never seen play. As Warren Buffet tells us, only invest in companies that you know. The same should apply to recruits.

Safety similar to LB needs not just athletic traits but someone with strong fundamentals & football IQ to thrive. The latter category means more to me so whoever that player is thats the one I want most.

Our best ever at UM definitively combined the traits you describe. But other than Reed, people don’t take time to discuss the incredibly fast mental processing speed of these guys; Blades, Kenny Phillips, Reed, Taylor, and even Jaquan Johnson who was not the same level of athlete, but possesses an extremely high football IQ.

Anyone see good news for us on this one?

hes not a target. either was green really. its Blake stewart and the kid from 2027 who's reclassifying.
I think Gaby has Blake going to Clemson so we need to branch out

What about Simeon Caldwell who commuted to Ohio State - looks like they will have 4 Safety commits if the #1 Safety goes there (he's projected to). Cortez Redding, Simeon Caldwell and Kenton Dopson if he reclassifies could possible be a S.

Caldwell is likely an LB anywhere he goes
