4-star 2028 RB Anthony Howard Jr. Talks Miami: 'My relationship with Mario Cristobal is great'
2028 four-star running back Anthony Howard Jr. out of Auburndale, Florida, is currently being recruited by the Miami Hurricanes.
CanesInSight caught up with him about his recruitment with the Hurricanes among other schools involved in his recruitment. He also hinted an upcoming gameday visit to Miami.
Howard is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound running back playing for Auburndale High School after transferring from IMG Academy this past season. During the 2025 season with the Ascenders, Howard rushed for 77 yards on 15 carries in only six games.
According to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings, he is currently viewed as a four-star product. Howard ranks as the No. 298 player nationally, No. 23 running back, and the No. 40 player out of the Sunshine State.
Howard's relationship with Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and running backs coach Fabian Upshaw continues to grow, as he has been recruited by Cristobal since the 7th grade.
"My relationship with Mario Cristobal is great, he’s been recruiting me since 7th grade, so are relationship have kept growing," he added. "My relationship with Coach Upshaw is great. He’s basically just been talking about my injury and how they still going to recruit me hard."
When asked which programs are recruiting him hardest, Howard named six schools.
"Florida, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, Ohio State, [and] Notre Dame," he added.
