Local three-star 2028 Miramar offensive tackle Nijal Thigpen told CanesInSight that the Miami Hurricanes are currently leading in his recruitment.

"Miami is currently leading my recruitment," stated Thigpen. He told CIS that there are three other teams pursuing him the hardest in his recruitment: NC State, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

Nijal is a 6-foot-6 270-pound offensive tackle where he plays football for Miramar High School. According to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings, he is currently viewed as a three-star prospect. He ranks as the No. 436 overall player, No. 35 offensive tackle, and No. 58 player out of the Sunshine State. This past season with the Patriots, he played over 200 snaps, allowing only one sack in 11 games.

Nijal believes that he has what it takes to play at the next level at Miami: "I 100% feel like I would fit into their pro style offensive [scheme] [that] they play based on what they got up front," he added. "My athleticism can help the Canes succeed."

According to Thigpen, what stood out about Miami was focusing on small details that you do not see after big plays: "Small detail’s focusing on things you don’t see after big plays, but when you go back to film you clean up."

He told CanesInSight that he will be coming down to Coral Gables for a gameday visit.
