RB Damien Martinez transfers to Miami

Lashlee was a very solid OC I just hated our offense when we had to run the ball. Never felt like we ever had a chance 3rd and 3 or less.

Right…We haven't been a good short yardage team in forever, even under CMC. But we had no prayer with Lashlee when we had to run it. No physicality at all.

Remember when Cam Harris got hurt in 2021 and the only running back we had left was Jaylon Knighton? That’s really when the running game crashed.

The last good short yardage back we had was when CMR was running greentree legend Trayone Choc Gray out of the FB position lol dude was money that year, pretty sure his long rush went for only 4 yards but cot damnit it was a first down

The only people that can slow down our Offense on 8/31/24 will be wearing University of Miami polo's on the sideline with headsets on.

The only way it doesn't work, is if we decide to not make it work.

Lashlee took a QB that Dawson and Gattis each to give up on, and an OL so bad it made arguably the best OL coaching duo look like they had no idea what they were doing, and put up a good offense.

Last season TVD would throw a couple of picks and people would be like, “and that’s why the offense can’t a TD.” TVD is turning the ball over against UNC in 2021 and the offense is still putting 40+.

Lashlee was an offensive god compared to anything we’ve had in a decade or so.

UNC ain't the example you want to use.
TVD vs UNC in 2021 went 20-45 for 294 yards, 1td 3int
-Those 42 points we had includes a pick-6 by our defense, so 35, not 40+
TVD vs UNC in 2023 went 31-48 for 391 yards, 4td 2 int

So 35 points with 3 turnovers.

Miami in ‘23, with an experienced TVD, scored 17 points before what analytics would consider garbage time.

14 of Miami’s points came with 7 minutes left when UNC was up 3 TDs and the game was over.

So, with that logic, TVD got carried in Lashlee's offense and it worked with Knighton having a career day....while TVD in 2023 performed better (17 points and 2 turnovers, instead of 7 points and 3 turnovers) despite a poor running game.

Yeah. Sure.

My logic is that Lashlee’s offense was good enough to overcome bad days at QB, and still put up points.

If you want to say TVD sucked and the running game still killed it, you seem to be agreeing with me.

I totally understand the frustration and questioning our offense under Mario and Dawson.
But I attended almost all of tvd’s home games. I don’t see a way that an offensive scheme made him throw so many interceptions. Maybe the coaching gurus can convince me why he struggled with zone so badly.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not defending anyone.
But I saw a broken qb. Call it injury or mental. He was broken and looked nothing like the dude that played the previous 2 years.
He made horrible mistakes and was nowhere near as accurate.

But I also don’t think that the offense was gonna be as explosive as we wanted it to be even he was the same dude. But we would be a lot happier with 9-3 than 7-5. And if it included a win over fsu even better.

TVD should be a top QB in the nation this year. He has an elite OC and he doesn't have Mario to hold him back, as some allege 🙄.

He gets to prove that it was bad coaching and not teams having figured him out, which is how I see it.
What’s gonna happen is he’s gonna drive the final nail in his football career’s coffin. Moving to Madison doesn’t automatically make you able to read zone coverage and it **** sure doesn’t cure the Yips. He’ll be a junior partner at mommy’s firm in 3 or 4 years…

Could you imagine how bad this team would be if Diaz was still here? I watched 15 minutes of that and two players stood out. King and ******* Bolden.
I thought the light had come on for Bolden after that game and he would morph into a superstar. ****.

Not sure how a move to Madison translates. Top flight OC, but not the Lashlee offense that TVD found success.
