Nike deal

No. No….this was Al Golden’s combo. Specifically, the coaches had cart blanche to chose uniform combos & Golden chose FAMU South. Lol
That’s not true. I know someone who worked on the equipment staff under Golden. The players voted for uniform combinations. Those hideous orange/orange things we wore against UF were chosen by the players. In regards to the green helmet Famu uniforms and the infamous gray unis with the orange helmets, those were specific Nike designs that had to be worn by the team for at least one game during the seasonp per the apparel deal. The players picked which game they would wear them.

Nike tried to lowball UM on their last apparel deal but now they’re not only going to buy out the remainder of the Adidas contract but also pay UM more money? Does anyone realize how ridiculous that all sounds?

Personally I want whatever company offers the biggest deal. I’m a grown man, I don’t wear football jerseys.

Apparently “X” the side host of Canesville says we are going back to Nike in sports apparel.
Before that tweet, the story was that it would be very difficult for Mario to come here because of a contract w Nike.. as if he had a personal deal that would preclude him either going to a non Nike school or leaving at all. X’s tweet implies a deal between UM and Nike.

This sounds like obvious Bullshlt….. why would an A list coach restrict his movements for an apparel deal? And do we really think UM is paying adidas to get out from under them? That said, it’s coming from places that have been accurate.

I personally say its seperate from Mario. I think Frenks assistants saw the contract from Adidas, made some calls to see what other companies had to offer and Nike might have gone in with an offer that was too hard to reject.

We all know who negotiated the deal with Adidas, so... Considering the program has a bunch of hype rolling with them, I wouldnt be surprised if Nike saw it and took a risk.

With 6 years left on the deal?

It’s Mario related. TIFWIW.

Just stop.

If u’re going to put out a narrative, make sure it can’t easily be disproven by a simple search & a guy who happens to post on here who not only has a frat brother who works for Nike, but a client who’s the nephew of the VP of Jordan Brand.

1. Nike had 1st right to refuse any deal offered. The deal offered by Nike was one Blake James felt was low, so Nike gave us their blessings to shop. Adidas & UA got into a bidding war, & per usual, Adidas made promises it couldn’t keep, namely, making sure no ACC Adidas branded school had a more lucrative contract than us.

2. Nike backed the brink truck to Michigan b/c Michigan hired the hottest name in coaching in Harbaugh. Harbaugh’s 1st request was to drop Adidas b/c of the perception it gives Michigan. Mind u, Michigan, like us, is an OG Nike school, & Nike did the same chit w/ Michigan. Ironically, Adidas did the same chit back in 2008, which was over bid for a fallen product. (Michigan was the highest compensated school at that time under Adidas). When the product didn’t come to fruition, they got bored w/ them. And actually, it was Charles Woodson, a JB athlete, that put that JB deal in motion.

3. Tennessee, on the other hand, was an original Adidas school; in fact, the last Adidas school to win a Nat’l title. Nike did not break the bank for them. LMAO; They received an 8 yr, $32m contract. UTK wanted to change its image, and again, & THEY CHOSE to leave Adidas to go w/ the popular brand for perception purposes. Football team still sucks, but their other programs r doing just fine.

Again, u don’t have to put 20 inch rims on a 10 in wheel base. If u’re going to put a narrative out make sure it’s accurate. One last thing, from my understanding, the Nike offer was incentive based, and Blake wanted the guaranteed $. Also, even though UA was a strong brand at this time, even they wouldn’t offer the type of deal Adidas is offering. Why? B/c Adidas in 2015, was in a mono y mono war w/ Nike, desperate to make a dent in the P5 game. It’s failed & trust me, they r having buyers remorse, just like UA had w/ UCLA trying to accomplish the same.

And no, our merchandise ain’t moving, LIKE AT ALL. Maybe it is from the student sector, but definitely not from the fan sector, which is the bull of sales. Mostly everything is marked down, b/c it ain’t moving. U can go & check it out for urself.
Rellyrell, you clearly have more insight into this topic than most on the board. Do you know if UM has grounds to terminate its contract with Adidas early? The 12 year deal was signed in early 2015, so we still have about half of the term left.

Obviously every fan would much prefer Nike gear for the Canes

Well, the logic cant be "Okay, you will take Mario away from me (Knight), so I will give you this apparel deal that is better than the exclusive deal you signed with Adidas".

It must be "I will offer you an apparel deal with big money involved if you leave Mario alone".

It Miami we’re a Nike school, Mario wouldn’t be leaving Phil at all. In fact, he walks away w more than he stared with.

Listen to this guy he knows of what he speaks. ☝🏾👏🏾

People on here would leave a dime on the floor to pick up a nickle. Nike won't care about us until we show we can win, while Adidas has been treating us well and paying top dollar for our underperforming program. That loyalty deserves to be rewarded.

They care that we're trying to poach their coach right now lmao

So any P5 program with a coaching vacancy an feign interest in the Oregon coach and get rewarded with a huge apparel deal? I mean, I’ll take Lane Kiffin and the largest apparel deal in college football but it seems too good to be true.

It isn’t that. This topic may be irrelevant when it’s all said and done.

Dude.. a reinvigorated UM football program would be worth a fortune to a Nike. The shltty version of UM football is getting over $10m/ yr

I seriously doubt miami ends their contract with Adidas.

This sounds like the Lane Train is leaving the station with top shelf assistants paid for by Nike, plus a new uniform deal with the Adidas Buyout paid for by Nike.

The only problem being that UM has no AD.

Am I wrong?
