1. was this him talking about a big local commit that others likely follow? I like Mills as a possibility there.
2. Has to be Solomon unless he is making it too easy.
3. I get that is the plan, lets see if it comes to fruition, I would think DT or RB or DB. We can rule out TE, OL and QB on offense, WR potentially but I guess taking two could make sense since a lot of Q's after X but with the young guys showing promise who knows. On D have to think we are set at Edge and LB.

as far as the comments, DE mentioned in past tense? As in referencing Kelly who left? Aside from that there are not really any top guys from the 2022 class left so I doubt any of them have a big NIL. Maybe Messidor since he has been hurt so often but he is almost too good to give up on unless his injury is just that bad. Otherwise the obvious two would be Wayne (west coast kid, top 100 player, flashed last year but needs work) and I guess Robby? Ranked higher than Rayray and seems to play less than Rayray and I could see him having a bigger NIL packaged with his bro.

D$ in today's video bank seemed to imply that that Miami has the most traction right now with

  1. Gavin Nix (Miami FIRMLY in the lead)
  2. Zion Grady (CB forecast is real, Miami making real moves).
also making major moves with Dallas Wilson

Any of these three would qualify as a big fish but didn't the impression that Wilson is that close.

Flo's Portal Talk April 19

Only able to listen to about the first 15 minutes or so right now (so there's a lot more that could be coming)

  • Miami's plan was/is to get 2 RBs in the portal this cycle
  • Martinez is one of the two they targeted to recruit (if they entered)
  • The other back hasn't entered the portal (yet)
  • Lots of potential impact players haven't entered the portal because their team hasn't had a spring practice

In regards to Samson, he is in no way earning his NIL at the moment(If he is making alot). I thought he looked eh last spring, and not sure he looked that much better this spring at T.

I posted this in another thread, but he seems like a straight line athlete, struggles to move laterally, little stiff.

I dont think he starts this year. Maybe rotates at LG with McCoy.

Thanks: just to clarify, over 30 ish teams haven’t had their spring GAME.

Predictions

  • Something strange would have to happen for Martinez not to be a Cane
  • JoJo will end up the best WR at Miami in the last two decades
  • Jones will end up the highest draft pick of all the DL in the last recruiting class. He's special.
Comments

  • Two recruits on deck, could commit at any point just doesn't know the exact day
  • Expects good news on Sunday
  • There is a reason Miami publicly leaked that they did an onsite visit w/Martinez

I really liked Jones' HUDL Was a little surprised he didn't get ranked higher (192 composite). But THE HIGHEST PICK out of Scott, Blount, Lightfoot, Pickett, McConathy, Rudolph .... and .... Russell? That is a bold prediction.

Interesting note on Jones

Not sure I saw anymore more impressive than the group of Stone, Breland, and Jones when following all those DTs last year. His ranking was pretty bizarre.

While I understand the NIL vs production concern I also know that OL is not generally a position where you just waltz into playing time at the P4 level as soon as you get into school no matter how high you were rated. Are there exceptions? Yes of course there are and Francis Mauigoa is a prime example of that but kids like Francis are outliers. Most of the time a young OL needs at least 2 years of S&C and coaching to properly develop and become ready to contribute at this level.

With that in mind, P4 head coaches should know that with highly rated OL that they can expect a significant disparity between NIL $ paid out vs production early in the players career with a return on investment starting to manifest in the redshirt sophomore through senior years generally.
