Here's what I'm concerned about as a former Golden hater: Getting him locked up with another extension. He's going to be a hot commodity after that major show out on national TV against a team that used to win 10 games almost every year.

If we don't get him extended, it could hurt recruiting.

If it hurts recruiting, it could mean another cloud.

As a kid, I had a piece of crap, 1956 Chevy. My first car. Three different colors of primer, no front grill or bumper, and I had an electrical leak that would slowly drain the battery. Under the hood, what looked like a 265 was in fact a high performance 301 with headers. I kept breaking my driver side motor mounts, so I finally chained the engine to the frame. It had one glitch, in that it would occasionally hang up during the shift between first and second.

I won races here and there against new, high performance Mustangs and such, but on those occasions, everything had to work perfect. Other times, a spark plug wire would loosen and short against the header tube, or it would hang up in second gear. And this was a regular event.

Golden is like that '56 Chevy. When everything is perfect, he wins. But those events are not something to rely on, as he'll all too frequently hang up in second gear, or lose a cylinder that's shorted out. He's inconsistent. Unreliable. Flawed.

Junk is junk, and the sooner you get rid of it, the sooner you can get a more reliable ride.

Win out and beat FSU and I will happily be back on the Golden camp. Is all about results and the product on the field. Beating teams like Vatech, NC, Pitt and VA who have 14 losses between them and might have 20 by the end of the year doesnt prove this coaching staff can coach.

I'm happy to be wrong, but beating a terrible VT doesn't make me think I'm wrong. I think we have an offensive beast going next year as Yearby can be Duke 2.0 and for the first time in 12 years we have a legit QB.

Side note, I can't stand watching our DL play patty cake. I really hate watching it on short yardage downs when they need to penetrate to get stops.

If we are wrong and Golden is turns into an amazing coach we would be ecstatic. We are just of the opinion that that is not the case, that we will never win championships with golden (barring a ridiculous influx of talent), and that a new, bigtime hire could get us to where we want to be faster than golden. if we're dead wrong, i would happily admit it, and would be so happy the canes are winning multiple championships and relevant every year.

that said, we just played probably the worst VT team we will ever see. its surprising to see their offense be THAT bad. what did we learn yesterday that we didnt already know? we can beat horrible teams when we play well.

when we beat a team top team like fsu than we will have this talk, Looseville and Nebraska only real teams we played this year and we lost. Wonder why?

this was the same VT that people here expected (craved) they beat down on UM with 500 yds according to other moronic threads. We took it to them, a team that even in their mediocre years and our better years has always been a thorn in our sides. Always. But we beat them silly and made them look worse than they are, forced three fumbles (did they just drop the balls because they're 'bad' or did we take it from them each time?) They game-planned thinking they could throw on us and we took that away. On offense, we ran almost 90% of the time, they knew it was coming and we still shoved it down their throats. Dude give credit when its due and enjoy the win.

We beat the crap out of those sad *** turkeys. For that I am extremely happy. I cannot stand for Canes to lose. Unfortunately, it changes nothing about my opinion about Al, Mark and most of staff. Team played inspired. Duke and Kaaya are among the best in college football and staff manged to NOT ***** up enough to lose. Please not that at halftime the opposing team AGAIN came out with adjustments for which Al had no frigging answers. Three fumbles are not adjustments but rather great plays by players despite staff. If VT had merely ran un the middle all night like NE, Loserville, and GT we would probably had lost. Coley would have abandoned Duke in favor of his favorite WR screen disasters and D would have been run into ground with DP ending up 12 yards deep on 3rd and 1 like every other game. Duke center snaps ball over QB.s head 5 or 6 time, VT fumbles 3 time in a row. That is not only the only way Al beats decent teams, it is the only and exact way he plans too. He has nothing else. Other team make no mistakes and run the ball, Al loses every time. PERIOD. He still has to go. Great game by the team. Great win but do not get carried away that it changes anything about Al. He is still capably of losing all the rest of the games, or maybe even beating FSU IF they make enough mistakes. NOTHING in Al system allows for actually STOPPING the other team, just waiting for them to make mistakes.

You can say this both ways if kayaa doesnt play like **** vs lville and neb and duke doesnt have that crucial fumble we win those games
