2023 Anthony Hill, 2023 LB (Denton Ryan HS in TX)

Dude looks like the truth, doing that against a Bama OL is impressive. I like him coming off the edge and admit I did not envision him in that role when we were recruiting him.

@1murhurricane was this one of the supposed "more 5* than wins" projections from last year? I seem to recall we were on him, then things went deafly silent, then it was randomly leaked he was coming for a last minute visit and I immediately thought this is Mario trying to sneak one in at the goal line when others are asleep at the wheel and if I recall correctly once his visit plans leaked Texas went in home with him THAT NIGHT and next day is visit was cancelled. I mean kudos to UT for doing what needed to be done as we can all assume what happened in that room but I was wondering if he was one we were more or less counting in at one point.

I look across CFB and see kids we were in the thick of it with making plays everywhere. Talent acquisition and talent evaluation is not an issue with Mario in control. Thankful for him and this staff as a whole. Can't win them all, but so grateful for Mario being at Miami.
Need to see more of them in Miami. I see them around the country too. Who gives a **** if we finished 2nd or 3rd?

This is the type of LB that we have been missing for over 20 years with the exception of Spence and Perryman.
Sean maybe to an extent. But Denzel wasn't on this kid level. Denzel was a liability in pass coverage. He'd decapitate you if you slipped up. But he actually was very similar to Shaq in my eyes. I loved both of them for who they were. But pass coverage was never their thing.

Whoever leaked it was lame but i don’t think this kid was flipping from texas lol, probably just wanted a bag which is good by us keep shooting the shot
He wasn't even committed to Texas. He was committed to a & m. Texas was just like us, lurking in the background for an opportunity. Difference was they respected the kids wishes.

I thought it was like a a&m and texas battle then he just decommitted and was all texas. I think it was a longshot. I thought it was a safety from texas that the media leaked I forgot the name

Both got leaked, you are thinking Derrick Williams.

Oh I agree with you completely. I just phrased that wrong. Basically what I should have said was that we have had mediocre to bad LB play for the past 20 plus years with a few exceptions. Most notable of those exceptions were Spence and Perryman but even they weren't close to the type of player Anthony Hill is.

Back when LBs like Nate Webster, Dan Morgan, Jon Vilma and DJ Williams were coming through, I thought it was normal to have players like that and took it for granted. I knew WRs like Reggie and Santana were awesome but I always assumed that there would be others like them. I thought it was normal to have a FS like Ed Reed who would somehow get these timely interceptions whenever we needed them. I knew he was really good but I just assumed we would get someone else just as good. Sean Taylor came soon after so I wasn't wrong but that just destroyed my ability to understand that what I was witnessing was not normal or anywhere close to being normal. I along with many others was thoroughly spoiled therefore I wasn't ready to wrap my brain around the drastic fall the program was about to take. It's been a long 20+ years.
