Huge potential for us. Instead of going to California or Kansas for JUCO, now some of these Miami kids who don't qualify can stay local, and they can bring talent in from around the country.

Programs like Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas State, and SEC programs make a living on JUCO players, now we're in the game as well.

Start getting some beast DT's.... sounds like a good development to me.

This can be the gamechanger that takes us from potentially a 10 win team (if we get some **** defense) to a 4 team playoff contender yearly it can be that huge

Contact and participation should start with our coaches first. Reaching out to their staff with clinic participation and constant communication between staffs. Then the university can now follow up to make sure their credits is transferable to Miami.

Hey, can anyone explain what's an ASA and why it's important? Sorry. I'm not familiar with this.

ASA is a two year Junior College (Community College).

Kids who don't have the grades to get in to Division 1 schools like Miami usually end up going to either 1 year prep schools or to Jucos like this one.

Every year we have kids from South Florida who are great athletes but who don't have the credits or grades to enroll in Division 1. In years past, these kids would go to Kansas or California or Mississippi where all these schools are located. Now they can stay home.

Miami admissions better work hand in hand with this place and vice versa.

Best case scenario: This place becomes our minor league team. Instead of having 85 kids on scholarship, you can look at it as now we have twice that many, and if a kid is any good we just "call him up" to the majors.

Kid we really want but can't qualify? No problem, just stick him in ASA for a year or two and keep in touch.

Plus, we all know that linemen develop later in life... so hard to project a 17 year old DT.

Great development for us.

ASA College-Miami will be the new NJCAA football program with their first playing season in the Fall of 2015. This Fall of 2014 will be a red-shirt season for the student-athletes.

This will be an actual JUCO out of Miami, FL. NOT a club team that has its players take classes at a local community college. They are a real JUCO in Florida (The only one!).

I could be wrong but you can not have a juco football in Florida.

It looks like they are here already so what gives?

Most likely it's private, not public.

The rule is probably just that the state isn't going to pay for football in state Juco's. It's not ILLEGAL to have a football team, why would it be? Just the taxpayers aren't paying for it.

So this is probably a private school giving out football scholarships.

Just a guess.
