When Mario Cristobal arrived in 2021, he quickly secured two key contributors on the OL in Anez Cooper and Matt McCoy. The Canes hope they’ve unearthed another athletic giant with the commitment of Neptune Beach (Fletcher) OL Takaylen Muex. Originally from Chicago, the 6’4, 340 mauler earned offers from Miami, Auburn, South Carolina and UCF after coaches evaluated him in person this spring.

Internally, Miami views Muex as powerful and nasty with good speed and bend for a big man. “He is who you want to go to the ring as your teammate in a brawl.” They believe his best football is ahead of him and that he’s capable of playing early once he trims up his body. Ultimately, they believe he has NFL upside.

Muex is Miami’s seventh commitment in the class, joining QB Luke Nickel, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, RB Girard Pringle, WR Waden Charles and LB Elijah Melendez. He chose Miami over UCF and FAU.
