Jim Harbaugh on the most important position group

Also, did we really? We pass protected well, but oftentimes used max protect to achieve that.

Was the running game indicative of a Top 10 OL?

UGA ran the ball for over 100 yards against every team they played except Bama, and they lost.

We averaged under 4 yards a carry in 5 games last year. And that’s not due to a ton of sacks.

I don’t think we had a top 10 OL last year, it just seemed that way at times due to the pass pro and how awful it’s been for so long, it looked a lot better than it was. It was very good, don’t get me wrong, but we didn’t move A&M. We didn’t move FSU. We didn’t move NC State or GT.
Very underrated key people look over from last year

I don’t think the coaches fully trusted the tackles in pass pro, and alot of the times when we didn’t max protect they got beat badly. Max protecting so much ended up becoming a negative for us too with how teams started dropping 8 and forcing tyler clock to go even slower than it already was

Iowa, Notre Dame & Wisconsin have ELITE OL's every single year chock-full of NFL players.

They don't do much title winning now do they?

If all you got is a bunch of OL's, then that's all you got. You have to be a well rounded team on both sides of the ball in order to get over the hump. Great Blocking is important but its not actually going to do anything for you if you don't have the QB & skill position players to make plays & SCORE.

Michigan had only 1 OL in the top 10 of their position group grade. The rest of their line was basically among the National average. They didn't have this Elite impenetrable Wall of China that people assume they have; The won because of Defense, run game & cheating.

From the vaunted UGA Dynasty that you all love so much, you know how many 1st round OL's they had? Just one. The rest of their OL's that got drafted were mainly 5th & 6th round picks, with only one other being a 3rd rounder. Both the Michigan & UGA teams has way more Defensive players drafted & in much higher rounds on average than any of their OLineman.

If the OL was all you needed then Iowa wouldn't have had the 2 worst Offenses in modern football history in back to back seasons.

****, the reason why most of you think we're going to have a good season this year is because of Cam Ward. If our OL was exactly the same as it is now, (actually you could even hypothetically thrown in Lee & Cohen returned for another year just for arguments sake), but we still had TVD as QB, NONE of you would pick us to win more than 7 games. So what does that tell you?

Even if Michigan had a bunch of first rounders on their line, their offense wasn’t good. Casuals always want to copy what the championship team did but if they paid attention, they’d know that Michigan was incredibly average on offense. They were statistically much worse than Miami in a lot of categories. Same for the first UGA championship team. They won because nobody could score on them. All the offense had to do was not turn it over and score occasionally.
