Austin Roberts 6'6" 270lbs 2015 JUCO SDE from NE Oklahoma A&M in Miami, Ok has Miami(FL) as his Top choice with Texas 2nd and Neb turning up the heat according to CS, but the nations 20th ranked juco player is waiting to commit. He has a UM offer but I doubt he will meet the ACC's 3 consecutive semesters at a the JUCO rule because he transferred from East Mississippi JUCO. An with Al Goden coming out today an saying UM needs to do a better job recruiting JUCO's it would make sense why they would gamble on a admissions risk like Austin Roberts.

He is originally from Northside HS in Warner Robins, GA where he was part of the 2013 class and he was a 2012 5A All State 1st team selection.

He says if Miami communicates with him and he still has a committable offer he will commit on the spot. He's just not sure if he could commit now or not.

I think this kid grows into a 4-3 DT / 3-4 End. 3 semesters would up by end of fall semester which would give him an entire spring to get acclimated.

What can you clarify your statement, please.

Very quick for his size & great athleticism, add 15lbs & stick him inside on 3rd downs. Could add to the pass rush and strong edge guy for 3-4.

This guy is still on the board... Crystal ball has him 50% LSU & 50% Oregon... Oregon's far from home, and LSU is stacked at DE; 6 of 8 DE's returning & they signed 3 more on NSD. Kid has an offer, and is from Warner Robbins, GA; a region we've has some success.

Listed as 6'6 265, not sure about the height measurement, but has a big body, and plays physical enough to man the Strong Side @ DE. Pretty athletic for a big guy.

Maybe bringing in the right coach will help our cause...unless he's a grades casualty out of JUCO??

Anyone have the scoop on this kid?

Seems the kid wanted to be here pretty bad at one point.... SDE is a Position of need, so why not?

Don't know if Golden is playing the ignore game, or if there's some other issue behind the scenes??

We're gonna **** this up ARENT we?

Would love to actually get some 3-4 de's (6-6, 270+) this cycle if we are going to run this scheme. Staff has recruited too many undersized de's that don't have the skills to play OLB and will either never play or never make an impact here.

if im the staff im all over this kid.....

Kamalu has been a productive player and kid seems to be at that level.

We need to continue stacking talent on our dline....to play our scheme we will ALWAYS need an influx of Juco talent, this is what Bamaa does typically every recruiting class grab a few juco lineman.

Miami is out of scholarships at this point, unless they can squeeze out 1 more an I think that one remaining spot could be for Bama DT transfer Dee Liner. Miami needs quality interior play more than DE's. Miami can always find DE's and SDE' in Florida but it is the quality beef in the middle of the dline that is the hardest to find, so if Miami can land Dee Liner that would add quality needed depth in 2016 and 2017.

An Roberts will not get past the ACC 3 semester matriculation at one school rule for non qualifiers.

Miami needs too try getting Roberts and Liner. If they can't win this year they won't be here in 2016

Atlantic Coast Conference Bylaws
Conference Eligibility Rules

Article VI. Rules of Eligibility Applicable to all Sports

Section VI-1. Conference Initial-Eligibility Rule

A nonqualifier whose first full-time collegiate enrollment occurs at an ACC institution shall not be eligible for competition, practice, or athletically related financial
aid at any conference institution. On an annual basis, a conference member may permit a maximum of four nonqualifiers (two in men’s sports and two in women’s sports with no more than one in any single sport) who have been granted a partial waiver by the NCAA Initial Eligibility Waiver Committee permitting them to receive athletic aid and/or practice per NCAA rules and whose first full-time collegiate enrollment occurs at an ACC institution. (Revised: February 2006)

A nonqualifier who transfers to a conference institution from a two-year college must have graduated with an AA degree, satisfactorily completed a minimum of 48 semester or 72 quarter hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on transferable degree credit acceptable toward any baccalaureate degree program at the certifying institution, and have attended the two-year college as a full-time student for at least three semesters or four quarters (excluding summer terms) in order to be eligible for competition, practice, and athletically related financial aid. A nonqualifier who transfers to a conference institution from a four-year college outside the ACC must, in addition to meeting all NCAA rules regarding such transfers, have satisfactorily completed 48 semester or 72 quarter hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on transferable degree credit acceptable toward any baccalaureate degree program at the certifying institution, and have attended the four-year college as a full-time student for at least three semesters or four quarters (excluding summer terms) in order to be eligible for competition, practice, and athletically related financial aid.

A nonqualifier who transfers to a conference institution from a two-year college, subsequent to attending a four-year college outside the-ACC, must meet all NCAA rules
regarding 4-2-4 transfers. Upon written application and good cause shown, the faculty representatives, acting as a committee of the whole, shall have the authority to grant exceptions to this rule based on objective evidence that demonstrates circumstances which warrant the waiver of the normal application of this rule (e.g., the student’s overall academic record, whether the student was recruited by the institution). An approved waiver requires an affirmative vote of two-thirds of the member institutions, with the involved institution being eligible to participate in the discussion but not in the final vote. A written summary of the faculty representatives’ decision will be distributed to all Conference members and kept on file in the Conference office.
