Pretty **** menacing as "Mr. Blonde" in Reservoir Dogs. Saying it looks like cardiac arrest was what did him in at 67. My personal fave would be his role in "Kill Bill 2." As an assassin/Bill's brother, Budd.

Used to watch this guy on early Sunday mornings on TV. Better than a comedian for yucks. Cousin of the late rocker Jerry Lee Lewis (who married his 13 yr old cousin in the late 50s). Legally, in Tennessee, back then...

Sly Stone died today. A reasonably close contemporary of mine at age 82. Sly hailed from Vallejo, CA in the North Bay out in NoCal. A great musician, legendary for missing gigs and becoming uninsurable as an artist. Those darn drugs...

I was disillusioned when I learned Buford wore a suit and tie to work most every day, and that his hickory club was a figment of Hollywood screenwriter imagination. I still watch the movie though when I happen across it streaming someplace.

So many great roles over all those years. Loved his playing Buck Barrow in Bonnie & Clyde, and Sheriff Bill Daggett in Clint Eastwood's The Unforgiven.

One of my favorite directors, even though it took me several tries to get though "Inland Empire." Mulholland Drive was indeed a gem. Blue Velvet was a winner on many counts. My fave scene was Dean Stockwell lip-synching to the Roy Orbison song "In Dreams", singing into an industrial work...

A bit before my time (8 yrs older than me) but I do recall him playing after his graduation from UM for the Redskins. From the Buffalo, NY area like the great UM and NY Giants DT Jim Burt of the early 80s.

His shooting 21-22 from the floor for UCLA against Memphis in an NCAA championship game is still the most dominant College hoops performance I ever saw. And, not one of his 21 baskets was a dunk (illegal back in 1973).

Roman and HOF QB Sonny Jurgensen (half a dozen years head of Roman) both played at Wilmington (NC) New Hanover HS. Over the years, they occasionally appeared together at notable events in town. Both had great arms. Sonny, former Redskins great, still hanging in there at 89.

Interesting. Kohl's must be pretty well managed as all the other dept stores around here seem to be closing or on the verge of that.

I recall him as against Trade Agreements, like NAFTA. Got a law passed requiring child safety locks on handguns. .Against the Gulf War with Iraq over Kuwait. A somewhat conservative Democrat.

It's interesting. In 1969, the Right-Wing and new POTUS, Richard Nixon, hated the show. Nixon was thin-skinned and was angry at the jokes about him, the political Right disliked long-haired hippies, fought a rear guard action against Civil Rights mandates, and especially detested the Anti-Viet...

CBS famously yanked the show from the air after they ran afoul of the network for their political critiques, defense of civil rights and their opposition to the Vietnam War. The show became both popular and controversial for timely references to the "youth culture" and the issues that both...

Ryan O'Neal died today at age 82. Acted in "Love Story" and "Paper Moon," to name two of his more famous films. Married to the late Farrah Fawcett. A "pretty boy" actor, he was actually a Golden Gloves fighter as a teen in LA.

A lot of his shows seemed so culturally "edgy" and modern in outlook back in the 70s. Now, very dated and G-rated! The march of time.
