I don't think it was a 'dirty' hit but it was an illegal hit. That's what the defenseless receiver rule is for. He went high on a defenseless receiver. He didn't lead with his head and he didn't hit byrd in the head though so I don't think the ejection was warranted, unless it's automatic and part of the penalty call.

Badham's hit was illegal because he led with his helmet. I didn't realize he was ejected because I had the volume on mute. That's ridiculous.
Barrow's hit is a perfect technical tackle. Head up, hit in the chest, wrapped up. How can it not be his?

he was ejected cus he was talking a bunch of **** to the refs. idk what he said but he was in their face and thats when they threw him out. wasn't cus of the hit

Looks like he led with his shoulder to me:

One was in a meaningless game the other defined a matchup between top 5 teams. GTFOH.

In real time, the hit looks too much like this...(See below) Hence the flag. Hits like that do not happen often so tip of the cap to them. The only thing I can say is, glad I was not Vanover or Byrd (or the Stanford receiver).

In terms of football hits, this Nigel Bradham hit was way more vicious. It was a much harder hit.

The Vanover hit is remembered by all because it set the tone for a game between two top ranked teams more than the hit itself. IMO.

Bradham's hit was harder in terms of the initial impact, but Barrow's was perfect in the form and the way he drove through Vanover and planted him in to the ground.
